Communities engaged and informed have the power to end HIV through PrEP as prevention.

Triad Health Project (THP), a medical case management non-profit based out of Guilford County, began in 1986 as a grassroots effort among fourteen friends to deal with the emerging health crisis and the barriers and discrimination their friends with HIV and AIDS were facing. Through the years, our services have adapted to the changing reality of HIV management.

While THP’s testing and case management services are specific to those living in Guilford County, our partnership with the Atlanta-based company QCare+ allows us to increase access to PrEP for anyone in North Carolina. PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) is medicine that reduces your chances of getting HIV from sex or injection drug use.

When taken as prescribed, PrEP is highly effective for preventing HIV, reducing the risk of getting HIV from sex by about 99%. As PrEP is currently only available with a prescription, increasing access to the treatment is crucial to preventing the spread of HIV. That’s where our partnership with QCare+ comes in.

You can sign-up with QCare+ in minutes, and 99% of QCare+ users pay nothing for their medical visits, labs, and prescription for PrEP. Our goal as the only partner agency in the state with QCare+ is to help as many people learn about, and access PrEP as possible!

Common questions about PrEP

What is PrEP?

PrEP is a once-daily prescription pill taken to reduce the risk of getting HIV through sex or injection drug use, and, when taken as prescribed, can do so by 99%. PrEP does not protect against other STIs. You do need a prescription for PrEP, but QCare+ makes it easy to be connected with a medical provider you can meet with virtually.

Why is everyone talking about PrEP?

PrEP is one of the more recent but also most effective tools in combatting the spread of HIV. While PrEP does not protect against other STIs, PrEP is significantly more effective than condoms and preventing HIV transmission through sex.

How can THP help?

As PrEP is currently only available with a prescription, increasing access to the treatment is crucial to preventing the spread of HIV. That’s where Triad Health Project’s partnership with QCare+ comes in. You can sign-up with QCare+ in minutes, and 99% of QCare+ users pay nothing for their medical visits, labs, and prescription for PrEP. Our goal as the only partner agency in the state with QCare+ is to help as many people learn about, and access PrEP as possible!
